WEBCAM not activated by messenger

I installed a Logitech Quickcam Qusion on my Dell Dimension 310,with Windows
XP MCE 2005. The camera worked great with Logitech Voice Call. I turned off
Voice Call and down loaded windows messenger,messenger works but will not
activate my camera. I've read all the posts and tried a few things encluding
the set up wizard. No results yet. Thanks

My computer is not run thru a router, I am new to this ,so I need details.
