Webcam picture in Live Messenger

Although the sound from my Logitech Messenger webcam is getting through fine
in a video call with Windows Live Messenger, the webcam picture is not. Am I
missing something simple?

Greetings,

Well the first thing you'll want to check is that you've gone through the Audio and video
setup wizard to select the correct video input. You can get to this by pressing Alt on the
keyboard, choosing Tools and then Audio and video setup.

Hi Jonathan
I already replied that the correct video input is selected. Any further
advice?

Hi Bill,

Can you be more specific as to what's happening? For instance, is it your video that isn't
being shown, your contact's or both? Are you seeing blackness or is just the advertisement
there? Do you see "Connected" at the bottom?

Finally, if you press Alt-A to bring up the Actions menu, choose Video, then Show my webcam
or View a contact's webcam (depending on what you're doing), does that work (this function is
separate from video call).

Hi Jonathan

I can't be much more specific, or try Show My Webcam until my contacts come
back online.
However during my last video call, I could both see and hear my contact but
my contact could only hear me - I don't know what he was seeing instead of my
video.
My webcam works perfectly well locally, I can record video and audio.

Hi Jonathan

I think I have solved the original problem - my webcam was active on my PC
and thus was not getting sent through Messenger. I now have two-way video and
audio conversations. I have another problem in that my PC crashes with a
Windows Stop error when during a video call. I think this may be a Logitech
software problem; I've installed updated software and will see how it goes.

Hi Bill,

Ah, thanks for the feedback.

A stop error has to be something at the kernel level (like webcam drivers), so hopefully
updated drivers has solved that issue.
