Webcam not activated by messenger

I installed a logitech quick cam fusion on my Dell Dimension 310, with
windows xp mce 2005. the camera worked great with logitech voice call. I
turned off voice call and installed windows messenger, messenger works but
will not activate my camera. I've read all the posts and tried a few things
encluding the set up wizard. no results yet. Thanks
