Voice chat gone from Origin?

I used to use voice chat in Origin to speak to my Dad while we gamed, but it looks like this has been discontinued from what I can tell online. The "voice chat" option has just suddenly disappeared. I didn't see any announcement about this and it seems like a retrograde step if they want people to use their client.

Anyone seen any more details on this?

I did see something about them removing it. Guess its time to make the switch to Discord.

I'm not sure I'd be able to get my dad on discord (although I do use it for other games), thankfully Steam still has VOIP so we've switched to that .
