Vista really sucks

I wish the hell I had never upgraded. This has to be the worst
upgrade ever! Nothing works.

My VPN software doesn't work.
My HP Printer won't install.
IE won't even let me send an EMail using web outlook. Have to use
Firefox so I can type something in the body of the email.
Half the time I'm looking at a black screen wondering what the hell
this OS is doing. Its already died a couple of times, and who knows
why.
Reboots take forever. Could you make it any slower?
iTunes initially would not play any of my music, but finally got this
figured out.
Still can't right-click on the start button and select "Open All
Users" and actually see all the things that are on my start menu.
I can't believe people are actually paying good money for this OS.

Did you check to see if you VPN software worked with Vista before the
install? How old is your HP printer? I have an HP Laserjet printer at
home at it does work with Vista. My IE works and I am using Outlook for
email.

What video card do you have in your PC? Did you check to see if your
hardware was compatable with Vista before the install?

My PC works with Vista.

I don't have itunes but from what I read, it works. Before bashing Vista,
take a look at your hardware and don't be so quick to blame Vista.

FWIW, it just sounds as if you have sucky hardware/software.

I've been sitting here playing with Vista all day and haven't run into a
single problem. (I don't know about the length of time it takes to
reboot. I've only done it once - after running Windows Update.)

I'm sure there will be valid things to bash Vista for, but I doubt that
users are going to find it a complete failure either.

Now I'm off to try and write a new gadget.....

I connect to work using Citrix just fine.
My HP Printer won't install.

New OS, get new hardware. Or wait and see if HP updates drivers. Or call
HP - I believe they were made aware that Microsoft was working on a new OS
but if not, you could be the first to inform them.
IE won't even let me send an EMail using web outlook. Have to use

I don't use OWA but I haven't had any other issues with IE7.

Mine has never died. Suspect your hardware or drivers.

About 2 minutes for me.
iTunes initially would not play any of my music, but finally got this
figured out.

I don't use DRM music from anyone. iTunes won't update my grandchildren's
iPods though. Just like HP, I believe they were made aware Microsoft was
working on a new operating system. You might call them just to be sure. In
any case, it's an Apple issue, not a Vista issue.
Still can't right-click on the start button and select "Open All

It works for me. (Standard developer answer and I don't even work for
Microsoft LOL).

As far as I am aware, no one but you has actually paid for Vista. Haven't
you been paying attention to all the ways Vista can be stolen? Geeze.

Oh, yeah... another post just reminded me. The reason you can't type in the
edit box of OWA any more is because Microsoft lost that lawsuit over
embedding controls in a browser. It isn't Microsoft's fault at all. There
should be a bar at the top of the page to click to enable the active x
control.

My HP Deskjet 5150 works just fine. I just highlighted your post, copied it
to wordpad, selected file/print, the printer select window popped up,
selected print, printer turned on and printed the text. No problem here.

If you think Vista is bad, you should have seen the Pinto
rear end collision - KABOOM - gas tank explodes
that REALLY sucked

My Pinto never exploded. I got 27 miles to the gallon. I had the Ultimate
(as in wagon) and it had great storage capacity.

The media player was fantastic. It played all online.. I mean on-air media
streams, both FM and AM.

MY BAD,

It was the Pinto Basic that exploded - the 2 door coupe version with no
bitlocker, no media center,....................................

I had a 1971 Pinto and it was a great car. Luckily the gas tank never
exploded because I was running the 64 bit version and not the 32 bit version
that had the exploding gas tank!!!

And you had to pay for registration every year!!!!
Microsoft should have sold Pintos.

Drivers are a problem. You have to check to make sure your hardware works
with Vista. A good place to start is the website of the particular piece of
hardware's manufacturer.

You might also need patches for software. Check the webpages of the software
producers to see if patches are needed to get their software working
correctly with Windows Vista.

In the mean time, I hope I appreciate that it is frustrating when something
doesn't work. For some things it is simply a matter of time as hardware
manufacturers and software companies get their products compatible with
Vista.

Just to let you know, you can have success with Vista. I've even got my
Logitech Webcam Messenger to work with Vista and the manufacturer's website
says it can't! (using beta driver for webcam from Vista's RC days).

bJames,

Seriously, why are you assigning -your- user induced trouble filled issues
toward Vista?

The person responsible for the troubles that you described, is the person
that inserted the Vista DVD inside your opical drive, not Vista.

Respectfully, the stuff that you Posted result from an extremely bad
installation of Vista.

Slow down, read the proper method for installing Vista before ever inserting
Vista's Install DVD !

Yes Vista is different. You will have to learn something new. To address
some of your problems.

What VPN software are you using? Have you contacted the developer to see if
they have a Vista version?

Have you checked for Vista drivers on HP's web site?

OWA has known problems with IE7 not just Vista. Your Exchange server needs
to be patched. Whoever is managing it is not up to date with patches.

It sounds like you have some hardware that is not compatible.

We've been browbeating people for many months telling them to check their
systems and software for compatibility, but some people just don't listen.

J

Jupiter Jones [MVP]

Did you verify with the hardware and software manufacturers so you knew in
advance if your hardware and software was compatible?
As long as you reside in North America, returns are easy.

well its kind of ridiculus to have a 1 gig mem requirement for stuff a mac
can run off of 256 megs and ubuntu can do an it doesnt have a 200- 400
dollar price tag its free how come microsoft cant do that!!

Bow beating the public is a waste of time. They sell the thing in retail
packages at the local computer super stores, so what can be expected?

It's called stockholders. They tend to object to giving it all away for
free.

I remember when I supported a bunch of Mac users about 10 years ago and to
do anything useful on a Mac took 256MB. And checking Apple's website, I
don't see any 256MB Macs for sale today.

I don't see corporations lining up to install Ubuntu. The Linux of choice
in the corporate world is as expensive as Windows is... and they didn't have
to develop anything except an installer to get started. And they charge you
for every friggin' year that you use their product... a lot...
