Vista keeps waking up

Hi,
I'm having problems keeping my RTM Vista Hibernated as it keeps waking up
every couple of hours. In the vent log it says "Your computer was
successfully assigned an address from the network, and it can now connect to
other computers." as the first event when the computer has woken up.

I've cleared all the check boxes on my NIC's Power Management tab and
disabled "WakeUp on ASP/PING", "WakeUp onLink Change ", "WakeUp using APM
Mode" on the NIC's Advanced tab.

NIC is Realtek 8139 with 5.640.630.2006 drivers (that came with Vista).

What's going on with the NIC/Vista? Anyone have any ideas or similar
experiences?

Hi,
Power settings in BIOS are exactly the same as earlier when I had Windows XP
SP2 installed. I just did a clean re-install of Vista on the machine. In BIOS
the only relevant setting enabled is the possibility to wake using USB
mouse/keyboard.

Could it be due to Realtek NIC drivers not functioning properly, although I
haven't noticed any difference after updating to new drivers from Realtek
site (NIC is RTL8139, new drivers are v. 6.101)?

Back in XP I could put the machine in standby and it would indeed stay in
standby until I woke it up with WOL. Now it's 1 AM and I'm here shutting down
my Vista, again, as I optimistically put it into sleep 1 hour ago.

Yes, many of us also suffer this bug. It was reported during beta, but
not fixed in RTM.

Go into Device Manager, right click on your keyboard and mouse devices,
Power Management tab, and ensure "Allow this device to wake the computer"
is UNTICKED...

That fixed it for me.... I can't however wake the PC from the keyboard an
mouse anymore, despite the BIOS settings, I have to use the power button...
