Using my new Epson Stylus Photo RX500

I am trying to scan with my new "all-in-one" Epson but
keep getting the message that my twain drive needs to be
installed. I have installed it twice, can see a
twain_32.dll file in my windows folder as well as a
TWAIN_32 folder. Epson tech support has not been
successful in correcting my problem, with their last
suggestion being "If it still fails it a appear
Windows is not choosing the Twain driver correctly and
formatting and reinstalling Windows may be the best
option."

Does this sound like a good suggestion?

P.S. I don't have trouble scanning with my Macintosh.

Don't you just love the state of tech support these days? Only format and
reinstall your operating system as a very last resort. What is shown in
Device Manager? Did the Epson tech mention anything about making sure that
the twain folders are deleted before reinstalling the software? Are the
other functions of the device operating fully?

Hello,I have same unit installed using WindowsXP Home,no problem with
the unit.
Not very knowledgeable but have found the following(1)Epson Reference
Guide has small troubleshooting info section for scanner
operation,should be
listed under Start/All Programs-Epson.
(2)There is a temp folder in my user account that has twain001.mtx-
twain.log-twunk001.mtx and twunk002.mtx. The log file may be of some
use.
If you cannot locate "twain.log" try using Start/Search-All
Files-Folders "twain.log".
Hope this is of some assistance, sorry that I cannot be of more
assistance.
Take Care.
