Epson Stylus PHOTO RX500

Sychman

Hello there everybody,

Running XP Home edition with Office XP as default email account. Despite my
best efforts (Epson help pages etc) I cannot get my
Epson Stylus PHOTO RX500 smart panel (Scan to email) to talk to Outlook
Office. This It only seems to recognise OE6 despite this not being my
default account.
Do any of you venerable people have any advice?
Kind regards. Sychman.

Assuming that you have set up an e-mail account in Outlook (this has no
connection with having set up your account in OE), open IE6 and navigate to
TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS - Programs tab, and set Outlook as default there..

My default e-mail, according to INTERNET OPTIONS - Programs tab is;
Microsoft Office Outlook.

When I attempt to scan to e-mail (Epson Stylus PHOTO RX500 smart panel) the
following series of events happens;

In the Smart panel dialog box I hit scan to e-mail and the scanner scans the
document as one would expect.

When I click NEXT the SELECT SOFTWARE dialog box opens. Originally the only
available e-mail option was OE which, of course, is not my default e-mail.
Since, I have attempted to register Outlook myself. This has obviously been
unsuccessful as when I select Outlook I am confronted with the following
dialog box.

"The application may be unable to open the image files. You can insert the
images into your document or import them from within the application. Do you
want to save the scanned images as files and then launch the application?"
YES - NO - CANCEL

This is the point where I get lost YES, NO or CANCEL. Where does the image
go when I click YES and what am I supposed to do?

I have successfully sent scanned images via OE but this require flitting
between OE and Outlook as is the case with viewing news groups. I find this
to be a little tedious as once OE is open it begins to accept all my e-mail.

Has anyone a solution that even a technological buffoon such as myself could
do to remedy the situation?

Kind regards.......Sychman.
