Using Microphone

Ive bought a microphone, but cant seem to get it to work. I only want to use
it with MSN messenger, and am not bothered about any other uses for it. I
have been through the trouble shooting guide, and this has not helped. Using
help, it seems like I should just be able to plug the mic in, go through the
audio and visual tuning in messenger and it should work, but it doesnt... Any
help?

First make sure it's plugged into the right spot on the computer. On the
sound card, usually has a picture of a microphone on the plug. Click the
little speaker icon and make sure the microphone is turned up and not muted.

Try the sound recorder (under entertainment) to see if you can record from
the microphone, if you can, it works.
