USB problem

I have a USB hub connected to a dell 4600sc running winxp pro, svcpk 1. Every
now and then a message pops up saying a high speed device is connected to a
low speed hub, otherwise everything works fine.

At this time the only thing connected to my hub is my Epson 1660 scanner.

In the device manager under Universal Serial Bus Hub listed as follows:
Generic USB Hub
Intel 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller - 24D2
Intel 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller - 24D4
Intel 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller - 24D7
Intel 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller - 24DE
Intel 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller - 24DD
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

Should there be so many listings? Can I delete them all and have the
computer re-install only what it needs?

Thanks

Hi ... I would believe that your hub is only 1.1 usb speed and you have an
devise that is 2.0 usb speed , So when its connected into your hub you are
only getting 1.1 speed instead of 2.0 speed which that devise is capable
..... Now for those USB listed in your chart , Yes you need them and I
wouldn't delete them , If you do windows will just reinstall them each and
every time you restart your computer

You have some USB 2.0 device, but no USB 2.0 hardware installed on the
computer - that would show as an 'Enhanced' Host Controller. You will
have either to be content with whatever device it is at USB 1.1 speed
(possibly OK for a scanner say), or get a USB 2.0 plug in card for the
computer (and at least XP SP1)
