How many USB controllers should there be in Windows XP (Home) with SP-2?

I was nosing around my Device Manager and discovered I have nine!

They are, in order:
Intel(r) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller - 24CD
Intel(r) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C2
Intel(r) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C4
Intel(r) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C7
USB Printing Support
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

TIA.

That's like asking "How much memory should be in Windows XP (Home) with
SP2?"

The answer is however many are installed in your computer. Your computer
seems to have 4 USB ports plus you have a printer attached to one of them
with extended printer support.

Looks like 6xUSB 1.1 ports and 2xUSB.2.0 ports to me.

(I think) you have 4 USB controllers, meaning that you have 8 USB ports
supported by your motherboard. 2 of them are USB 2.0.

If you can't see 8 ports on the back and front of your cse then you may have
some free headers on your motherboard which you can connect a USB 3.5 inch
bay onto the front or some USB brackets at the back of the case.

USB brackets: http://search.ebay.co.uk/USB-bracket_W0QQfromZR40

A pretty cool connection bay with USB ports as well as a bunch of other
connections and fan controller:
