USB Mass Storage Driver error after XP reinstall

I just replaced my hardfile on a Dell Dimension 4300 (P4
1.6Ghz) and reloaded XP Home with all the latest service
updates, including SP1.

Other than upgrading the hardfile, there were no hardware
changes and the USB 1.1 mass storage device(s) worked
fine. After reloading the OS and patches I am unable to
use the USB mass storage devices.

When I went go use a USB 1.1 mass storage device, I get
the "New Hardware Found" screen, and the system searches
for the driver. When the system tries to install the
driver, I get the message "Unable to install driver - Data
Invalid" message.

Any suggestions how to fix the problem?

John, see if you have any WinXP USB device drivers on the Dell CD.

Thanks for the input. Unforunately, the USB Mass Storage drivers are not on the CD. I suspect a registery issue, but don't know how to diagnose & find the fix.
