USB Mass Storage Device Problems

I'm having problems with USB mass storage devices on my computer. All
other USB devices work except mass storage devices. I was working
before but suddenly stopped. It does not show in my computer nor does
it show in disk manager. I do get the ding when I plug anything into
the port but does not recognize. I've uninstalled the ports, reloaded
windows, turned off power management for the ports, just about done
everything except replace the motherboard. Any help?

What kind of mass storage devices are you referring to?
Also some more info about the OS you are running.

Using XP Pro W/SP2. All mass storage devices such as external hard
drives, pin & flash drives.
