USB HDD not functioning

I bought a new Hitachi 250 GB HDD and installed it in a CompUSA external USB
case. I cannot get the hard drive to be visible in XP Home. Because it was
not visible, I connected it as a secondary master inside of my case and
formatted it, thinking the lack of format was the problem. Afterwards, I've
had no luck. It shows up in the device manager as a "USB Mass Storage
Device", but after clicking on properties, it says that "No drivers are
installed for this device." I've attempted to uninstall the driver that
isn't installed and reboot multiple times, but still have no luck. It is not
visible in "Disk Management" either. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks
for an help.

YEs, I've sent CompUSA Tech Support an e-mail, but have not yet recieved a
reply. Their 800 number is closed right now, but if I don't get it fixed
tonight, I'll call them tomorrow. Any other ideas in the mean time?

Andrew -

This disk does not show up in the list disk or list volume comands. I
looked in the help /? commands, but none seem to allow me to enable a drive
that isn't visible. Rescan did not help either.

Run don't walk run back to COMPUSA and get a refund. I bought one and
it worked once. I then fiddled with it for a while couldn't get it to work.
Guess
what? More than 14 days passed and I had to eat the GD thing.
