USB Hard Drive not recognized by explorer

I've just purchased a new usb hard drive, the Maxtor 750GB drive which I put
into an external case. When I connected the drive to the usb port and
turned it on, winxp recognizes the device, but the drive does not show up in
explorer. Opening the device manager says it's working ok, but I just can't
see it. What to do? Thanks.

Presumably because you haven't yet partitioned and formatted it. To do this,
go to Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Computer management | Disk
Management.

Partition and Format the drive in Disk Management. Rt.
click on My Computer, left click on Manage, left click on
disk management, right click on the drive that appears in
the bottom right Select partition, etc. and have fun. Make
sure it is your 750 GB drive.
