USB devices disappear after upgrading to Windows XP Pro

After upgrading from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional, all my USB
devices stopped working. Windows XP could not detect them. On checking Device
Manager, I found that there was no driver for the USB Host Controller. How
can the driver suddenly DISAPPEAR like this? Even more puzzling is the fact
that the Host Controller showed 3 usb root hubs under it and Device manager
reported that they were working perfectly. How is this possible? Please
explain.

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your computer
or motherboard and download the motherboard chipset drivers
and install them.

If you have an Intel processor and chipset:
