Upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro

Mike

I have attempted to upgrade my XP Home with XP Pro, but an
error occurred during installation and I need "specific"
advice on how or if it can be repaired. During the
installation process the following error message appeared
which did allow we to continue and complete the
installation, but when I boot up, it can take up to 5 mins
for all my startup pgms to startup and the Laptop locks up
frequently. Laptop (Compaq - Presario - 1700) 4-5 years
old. 1g mhz, 256 RAM, 40g hardrive.

Please help or advise on the avenue to get help.
Thanks!

I have seen this error related to the Keyboard Driver for Windows XP needing to be updated.

Compaq has a fix that updates the driver for XP: SP20927
