Uninstalling Norton AntiVirus 2001 after upgrade of OS

G

George

Upgraded Windows Me to Windows XP Home Edition as follows:
(1) Updated flash BIOS from A06 to XP2
(2) Loaded and installed Windows XP Home Edition
(3) Down loaded and installed critical updates/service
pacts for Window XP.
(4) Removed Blaster Worm from computer with removal tool.
(5) Turned off Restore fuction and removed Blaster worm
from restore area.
(6) Updated internet software from AT&T for Window XP.
(7) Updated printer/scanjet software and drivers.
(8) Purchased Norton AntiVirus Pro 2004 after receiving
warning message that NAV 2001 does not work with Windows
XP.
(9) Could not uninstall NAV 2001 using Start,Control
Panel, Add or Remove Programs. Got error message:
'An error occurred while tryig to remove NAV 2001.
It may have already been uninstalled.'
(10) Could not uninstall NAV 2001 using Start,All
Programs, Norton AntiVirus, Uninstall Norton AntiVirus.
The uninstall NAV command went to the Windows directory
instead of the NAV directory. A message appeared saying:
Cannot find NAV. A file exist that is about the same
size. Do you want to fix this. I said yes and
the'Uninstall NAV command attached to the CD player!

Statement: I should have removed the NAV 2001 before
updating to Windows XP.
Question: Other than uninstalling Windows XP,
reinstalling Windows Me and starting over again...or...
uninstalling NAV 2001 by the manual method, what can I do?
Can I change the NAV Uninstall command path, get it off
the cd player and direct it to the correct file?

Thanks for any insight in advance,

George
