Unable To Resume From Hibernation

Hi

I am for some odd reason unable to restart after going
into Hibernation (Win XP Pro, SP2, Fully patched &
updated with all latest drivers). I can resume from
standby with no problems, just touch the mouse or any key
and up she comes.

Hibernation however is another story. While the
keyboard "numlock" light remains on (as well as front
panel power indicator), restoring power to startup
doesn't happen. Hitting reset or holding the power
button in for over 15 seconds does nothing.

The only solution I have found is to turn-off the main
power at the CPU, wait the 15 seconds for the keyboard
light to go out and then restore power. The system then
does a cycle and allows me to startup via depressing the
front panel power button. Once startup is complete, I
find myself at the Windows XP Pro login screen for my
various accounts in recovered from hibernation mode with
NO ERRORS!

So what is going on, I have no idea since there are no
errors being reported.

Ideas?

Hi,

This is not the answer you may want to hear, but.....

Sometimes hibernate simply will not work on some hardware/software
combinations, even if you do everything right. Not all hardware fully
supports it, and often times some combinations of hardware as well as some
applications don't. If eliminating all resident software and updating device
drivers does not help, then I would try rolling back some drivers to earlier
versions (this in particular if it worked at one time, but does not work
now). Otherwise, you may need to just stick with standby and not use
hibernate mode.
