Unable to install devices

Ian

I have tried two MP3 players on my XP today and neither will work. The Ipod
could not find any device drivers through I tunes and the Wharfedale
replacement couldn't either using it's setup disc. The latter is supposed
to appear in my computer as a removable drive which it doesn't. In device
manager, the device has a question mark and when I try to install the driver
manually using the disc, it still states it cannot find a driver for the
specified device. The driver status says: The drivers for this device are
not installed. (Code 28)

I run 2.0 speed USBs which are very loaded it has to be said (everything
needs a USB these days!) and I have tried various different USB ports to no
avail.

Can anyone assist me?

regards
Ian

Could be the drivers/software are not signed by WHQL.Try opening the cd
with drivers, copy to new folder & put in my documents or similiar.Go to run,
type:SigVerif In the new window,select advanced,locate the drivers,run the
utility. If all is ok,open device mgr,R.click on the device, select update
drivers,
select manual, uncheck the box "show compatable" locate driver(s) & install.

You are a menace to everyone that you answer. Please do not answer if you do not know what the answer should be. You are incoherent and you post dribble. Go away and take a sabbatical from these newsgroups preferably a very long one

neither of these options worked. Peter why would I want to update my
windows2000 with the latest service pack when I have XP SP2 already
installed? The hotfix that the document relates to is also for W2000 and
the link simply takes you to the MS website.

Can anyone else help?
