unable to download from IE6 on Windows XP

Could someone please tell me why when I try to download
anything from Internet Explorer running on Windows XP I
get a blank box instead of the usual download box? Could
it just be a setting in IE6 that I am missing?
 
Go to IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Customize. Scroll down and
make sure Downloads are enabled.
