Two OS on my pc.

How can I tell my pc to boot up automatically to XP Home, instead of showing
me options on what operating system to choose? I have a 100gig HD, divided
on 75gig for Home and 20gig for Pro. My family uses XP Home Edition, but I
just started to use XP Pro, and I want the pc to boot up automatically to XP
Home. However, I want to use XP Pro, and would like to know how can this be
done. I was thinking, I could set the pc to boot up to XP Home, unless I
press (Lets say F7) and allow me to choose to what operating system to boot
up.
The problem also is that I have no idea how to do such stuff, so ti would be
apreciated if anyone could help me.

Thank you and have a nice week.

Use HDD racks so you can insert which ever drive you want to boot to,
or set the timeout in boot.ini to 0 [zero] but then you would have to boot
to Home to change this back to the default of 30 secs if you wanted
to choose which OS to load, bit clunky I know, maybe someone has a
more elegant solution.

Set the default in c:\boot.ini to WinXP home and set a suitable
timeout value, e.g. 3 seconds, so that you can select WinXP
Professional if desired.

You can change the display time safely by
Open Start > Run > Type "control.exe sysdm.cpl,,3" [Copy/paste this without
quotes] > Click 3rd Settings button > Reduce the amount of "Time to display
......."
May be you can still boot into Xp pro by pressing F8 key at boot time and
choosing the operating sytem.

Why bother mate?
I don't see what difference there is in home and pro that would want you to
make sure you family uses home.

why not just put pro over home and use ur other partition for something
entirely different eg Linux - it's a great learning experience - however
useless as day to day productivity os.

Well, ErlyRisa, you may be right, I was thinking about using Linux on my pc,
but still, since I am not super computer user, it will be dificult to set the
boots and stuff, so if I get a second computer, I will leave my older one to
Linux. And thank you for all those responses, I will try to set it.

Thank you.
