Eric,
Here is a link for a Win98 Bootdisk (floppy) with all the utils on
it to delete / create partition and reformat the drive (in Fat32 but
WinXP setup will have NO TROUBLE in rapidly re-formatting it NTFS) It is in
executable form so you don't need any special software, just put a [blank]
floppy in the drive and double-click on the program you download.

Download Win98 Bootdisk (exe) from:

You don't need to download a boot disk. The XP Pro installation disk has
everything you need. Back up any data you want to external media, boot with
the XP Pro disk, delete the old partition(s), create new one(s), format
NTFS, and do the install. Afterwards install all your drivers and Windows
Updates.

The Windows XP cd is all that you need. Just boot the computer with the
CD and at the beginning of the installation process you will be given an
option to delete/create and format the partition.

No boot disk is necessary because no formatting is necessary before a
clean installation. Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS
boot order if necessary to accomplish this) and follow the prompts for
a clean installation (delete the existing partition by pressing "D"
when prompted, then create a new one).

All legitimate WinXP installation CDs are bootable and have the
capability of deleting, creating, and formatting partitions.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
