Trying to back up c drive, but there is no option

Hello all
My lap top with XP has "back up your data" option in Performance and Maintenance, BUT my home pc (with XP), under Performance and Maintenance has identical options EXCEPT "back up your data" option, WHAT GIVES ? Thanks for any help you can provide.

XP home does not have the xp backup installed by default. You have to
install it from the xp cd.

XP Home version does not contain the backup utility
you need to purchase a third party backup utility.

Can be installed from the xp cd.

I am asking a dumb question, but what is the name of the option to select on the XP CD to install "backup" also can it back up to a DVD? Thanks

Insert the XP CD, and run NTBACKUP.MSI (it might look like just "Ntbackup")
program from the folder D:\Valueadd\msft\ntbackup where D: is the letter of
your CD drive. This will launch the Windows Backup Utility Installation
Wizard, which will install the utility automatically.

No, it cannot backup directly to any type of dvd or cdr/rw drive. You would
have to backup to your harddrive then burn it to a cd. If you want to backup
and burn directly to cd you'll need a different, third party, backup
program.

HP Home Edition does not have Backup installed by default, as XP Pro
does. It may be on the CD, if you have a retail one, but rarely on
'OEM' ones that come with new machines. Look in AddedValue\MSOFT\Backup
and right click the ntbackup.msi file; take install
