Hello all
I have two PC's , both have XP Home installed, in the windows for "Performance and Maintenance" only one PC gives the option to "back up your data" the other doesn't. (I want to back all personal info to an external drive.) Does anyone kno
why "back up your data" option wouldn't be available on that P

The backup utility for xp home is not installed by default. It can be
installed form the xp home cd in the valueadd folder. (ntbackup.exe) Maybe
one computer had it installed by the oem and the other went with the default
of not installed.

Thanks Phil,
Should I try to load install CD and then just add it (ntbackup.exe) , or do I have to do a totally new install ? New concerns me because not sure it's backed up completely

No need to reinstall. If you have a retail xp cd, just put the cd in and add
the backup utility.

The NTBackup program does not come installed on a Home system. If you
have a 'retail' as oppose to some OEM CD, you should find it on that in
ValueAdd\MSOFT\Backup. R-click the .msi file and take Install
