Hello, When I want to copy a folder of pictures onto a CD I get this 'Confirm Stream Loss' pop up which says the 'thumbs' has extra info. etc.... and then I can't burn the folder, but I can burn photos one by one onto it. How do I fix this problem? Thank you and all information and responses will be much appreciated.

This happens because the THUMBS.DB file is visible in your
selection. To prevent this, don't include the THUMBS.DB
file.

From Windows Explorer click: Tools > Folder Options >
[View] > [X] Hide protected operating system files.

"thumbs" sounds like the thumbs.db file used to cache all the thumbnails.
You probably don't see the extension because you didn't configure Explorer
to show them. You also probably don't see the file in Explorer because its
hidden attribute is on, so you need to configure Explorer to show hidden
files.

You can choose to cache or not cache the thumbnails. If you cache them (and
expend the CPU cycles and time to cache all of them) then on reentering that
folder the thumbnails do not get regenerated (except for new files). If you
don't cache the thumbnail pics, they'll get regenerated everytime you
reenter that folder. If the fileset in the folder changes very little then
cache the thumbnails. If the fileset in the folder changes a lot (I have
some folders where the number of files that get created, modified, or
deleted can be up to 20,000) then do not cache them as you would end up
caching thumbnail pics that have a very short lifespan and may not be
applicable on the very next time you visit that folder.

To change if the thumbs.db cache file gets used or not, in Explorer use the
Tools -> Folder Options -> View menu and enable/disable the "Do not cache
thumbnails" option. Note that this is a negatively worded option, so to
disable caching you enable this option. Enabling this option to disable
thumbnail caching does not automatically delete all thumbs.db files
everywhere. It will linger around as a remnant and unused file.

Unfortunately this is a global setting. You don't need to copy the folder's
setup to other folders using the "Apply to all Folders" button (since
apparently that only copies the view setup). Once you configure it, it
applies to all folders.

I believe the default is to cache thumbnails, so the thumbs.db file gets
created if you configure a folder to display in thumbnail view. So see if
not caching the thumbnails and deleting the thumbs.db file gets it working
for what you want to do.
