"Activision has finally released Call of Duty: Black Ops today, sparking a fierce price war as the big retailers vie to sell as many copies as possible.

Blockbuster is offering the cheapest price according to MCV, selling Call of Duty: Black Ops for just 99p when two of the following are traded in - Medal of Honour, Fable 3, Fallout: New Vegas, MMA, F1 2010 or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2.

If you don't have those games to trade in, Blockbuster is charging £44.99 for Black Ops on its own.

Supermarket chain ASDA is running a close second in the price war and is reducing Black Ops from £36.99 to £4.97 when Fallout: New Vegas, Fable 3 or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 are traded in.

HMV is selling Black Ops for £7.99 when customers trade in Medal of Honor, or for £42.99 otherwise.

Specialist retailers Game and GameStation are discounting Black Ops on PS3 and Xbox 360 to £24.99 when any other chart titles are purchased at the same time, or when Halo: Reach, Dead Rising 2, F1 2010 or FIFA 11 are traded in.

Internet retailers are offering simpler deals; Play.com is currently selling the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops for £34.99, while Steam is selling digital copies for £39.99. "

Well a quick first impressions post before i gotta dash again....

SP is good, though i have only played about 15 - 20 mins of that, if that.

MP is similar to MW2, but not as annoying if that makes sense. Probably because they have brought back servers for us PC gamers, Dev console, Tweakable configs etc etc.


Make no mistake though. For now it does need a patch, but Treyarch aint bad with that kind of thing. Infinity Ward did patch CoD4 with 7 patches before it was 'finished' remember.

All in all. its seems good. What MW2 should have been originally IMO.

Steams price atm is high @ £40. It can be had online for cheaper. Dont forget it isn't Steam that sets the prices, its the games Developers/Studios.

It is a steamworks game, so it installs into steam anyway. Like MW2 and (IIRC) Fallout New Vegas.

Perhaps they took note of all the howls of protest from last time around.

I wil buy it eventually but I ain't paying 40 quid for a PC game. Hell, I won't pay 40 quid for any game

Q: Will we get the /connect and /reconnect commands in the next patch?

Treyarch
A: /connect is coming back. maybe not next patch but I promise it is coming back.

Q: Will the last killcam (End of the round) lag too fixed if the patch comes out?

Treyarch
A: TBH I’m not sure yet what is causing killcam choppiness, but we see it too. Will fix.

Q: Not asking specifics, but now that the game is launched, are mod tools ideas being kicked around yet? and congrats on the game!

A:Thanks, man. mod tool dev started already. no bandwidth to discuss until after some patches though.

Q: Will it be possible at some point to have servers with lower max player counts? 18 players in FFA games for example = too chaotic!

Treyarch
A: Will add 12 player playlists.

Q: Will it be possible to put reserved slots for my friends and me on my own ranked server again?

Treyarch
A:We removed the feature because it was abused. will fix.

Q: Are you aware of the bug where theater mode replays are only being saved on some servers? Mostly treyarch servers seem to work

A: Film recording should be fixed – this was a backend config problem for rented ranked servers only

Q: Have you thought about allowing editing of classes in a server?

Treyarch
A: We tried this but had a lot of problems due to the way the data is secured. had to bench the feature for future review.

Q: Hi, if i go into the server browser, sometimes i click on a server nothing happens, its not full etc but its just that nothing happen

Treyarch
A: This is a bug – highlight another server then double-click the one you want to join.

Q: Are there any engine optimisations coming I am above the min spec but still get awful fps in lowest settings, not lag related.

Treyarch
A: We have some nice optimizations for better FPS going into QA tomorrow.

Q: Awesome, will the next patch be in the next couple days you think?

Treyarch
A:Trying to release patch before the weekend. will go into QA tomorrow.

Has anyone actually got the zombies to work on multiplayer? i've been trying for like an hour all that happens is game lobbies closes or ends every time! I wish i got this for me ps3 now! The actualy online deathmatch is kool though, very fast paced, i think i need to try singleplayer 1st though and get me pc reaction up, its been a few years
