Sysprep with XP OEM COA License Activation Problems, VLA Available

Due to the recent changes in Microsoft Activation requirments we are having
issues with our build images that were prepared with Sysprep.

Previously we were able to apply our images, enter the Serial number and
perform an activation. Now we are unable to activate XP without a phone
call, which is very time consuming.

Our companies computers are covered under VLA agrements, however these
builds were created with a OEM install disk.

The long term (and right) solution is to recreate these builds using the VLA
installation of Windows.

In the short term is there any way to modify a OEM install to make it a VLA
installation, and work with the VLA licence numbers?

A. No. You can only use a VL Windows XP CD with a VL license.

"Microsoft does not support the use of Sysprep to create a new image of a system that
was originally created by using a custom OEM installation image or by using OEM
installation media. Microsoft only supports such an image if the image was created by
the OEM manufacturer."
