Getting ready to roll out a bunch of Windows XP desktops and was wondering
what version of Windows XP to install (OEM or VLA). We are getting Dell
GX280's with an OEM copy of Windows XP Pro. I have a MS Select 6 agreement.
I am wondering if I should install the VLA copy of XP so I don't have to
worry about activiation or should I install the OEM copy? We will be
rolling the workstations out via RIS. If I install the OEM copy do I have
to worry about RIS and the activiation stuff? If I install the VLA copy do
I still need to enter a product key and would I use the Select agreement key
or the OEM key on the tower?

Thanks
Craig

You should contact Dell and ask them to provide VL
licensing in lieu of OEM licensing. OEM licensing
requires Product Activation and you cannot use an
OEM license (Product Key) with a VL installation CD.
Otherwise, you'll have paid for an OEM license that
cannot be used if you decide to use VL.

Using the Dell Reinstallation CD will require the manual
input of the OEM Product Key located on each Dell PC.
