Hi, Got a gift (in a Thrift Shop for $10 )of MS Project 98 and tried to
install it - no go.
Running XP Home, Try to install but get a strange error:
"16 Bit Windows SubSytem
The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos & Windows Applications"
Can anyone throw some light on this? It worked on a friends XP Pro PC.
I've tried the MS Project ngs, they suggested this ng.
TIA Colin D.

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit
Windows-based program

Also can be caused by a Trojan installing a file windupdater.exe and
creating registry entries for that file.

AVAST (free antivirus software) can be the cause if SP2 is installed:

You can put back the standard version of autoexec.nt by copying a backup
copy held in windows\repair to windows\system32.

Thx Rock, that was the answer. Read the doc and did the thing all is well.
