problem installing older program

ok, so everytime I try and install an older program into my computer,
AMD CPU, WIN XP SP2, I get the error message
"c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to
terminate the application." and even b4 i got the SP2 they would not
install. This particular one is Monopoly casino from hasbro
interactive.

these are the system requirements in readme file
System Requirements
-------------------
Operating System: Windows 95/98
Processor: Pentium 166
Hard Drive Space: 30 MB
Ram: 32 MB
CD-ROM Drive: 4x
Video: Windows 95/98 compatible, 800 x 600 16 bit color
Audio: Windows 95/98 compatible
Peripherals: Keyboard, Mouse

this error, please go to the control panel to install and configure
system components, comes when I try to run the msinstall file, but the
setup.exe file causes a different error.

terminate the application."

Article contains instructions on how to replace the damaged or missing
system file.

I did what they said and I still get the message, "please go to the
control panel to install and configure system components"

Please help if you can.
