Sudden Problem downloading Programs or Updates from Int. Expl. 6 SP1

Did not experience previous problems; but suddenly I cannot Download desired Programs from Web Sites, or even Upgrades from Microsoft !!!
The only change I have recently made is to change from 'dial-up' service to 'DSL High Speed' service ! Can a built-in Firewall in the High-Speed Modem cause this problem ????!!!
 
scan for virus or trojan.
free antivirus at grisoft.com
free firewall at zonelabs.com (zonealarm)
high speed internet should allways have a full firewall.
