I have a Dell 8200 and started getting the BSOD after installing SP2.
It would only boot into safe mode but no matter what options were
selected in msconfig. I tried a diagnostic setup which killed my
restore points so I tried to do a repair using the CD. During the
setup, I got another BSOD.
Now I can't get into safe mode. When I try to start in safe mode I get
the message that Windows XP Setup cannot be run in safe mode and I
only have a OK box that reboots the system. I tried starting the
install again and then canceling it, but it keeps trying to finish the
setup.
I'm stuck now because I get the BSOD with the setup and can't seem to
cancel the setup. Is there a way to cancel the setup through the
recovery console?
Thanks.
