XP Pro setup in a loop

Can someone help?

I had to recently do a setup - repair on my OS (XP Pro) and it seems to
have gone all wrong.

Setup finished and boots up and starts the OS. But as soon as I login I
get told to activate the OS (the OS had been 'activated' for several
years now).
But it then crashes after I click on YES.

I get a BSOD - STOP:0x0000008E with driver ENTDRV51.sys
(this is a part of the mcafee suite I have installed.)

Ok, I thought, I'll go into Safe mode. But the OS will not let me run
Safe Mode until its Activated and reboots!!

So anyone know how I can fix this error?

Is there a way to restart the Setup off my OS disc?

Uninstall the McAfee suite and try again - since it is causing the issue?

Uninstall the McAfee suite and try again - since it is causing the issue?

How?
I can't run the MS setup.exe again , or go into Windows as it won't let
me.

In the end I cured it by running BartPE and this allowed me to get into
my C: drive and delete this file.

Once I deleted it I was able to reboot and finish the repair.

Quite why Microsoft can't provide a way of booting up into Windows like
BartPE is beyond me.
