I have a dimension 9150 with XP home installed. I attempted to install XP PRO
in a clean install procedure, but after boot up and the files were loaded the
message as to where to install the new OS did not show any of my old
partitions, but indicated that there was no disk. and the next screen (A
BLUE)had the following error scheme:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF77F5CAD,0xF73BA7B4, 0X00000000)
Setup.sys ADDRESS F77F5CAD base at K77c9000, Date stamp 41107C8f

Can someone please help me????

Something is seriously wrong....

Stop 8e means
KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Search the internet for this stop code.

By the way, the base address is incorrect. That is not a hexadecimal
number. F77.... is most likely an address on the PCI bus.

Checking the documentation for your system on Dell's web site indicates that it
has an SATA hard drive. This probably means you need to provide drivers for the
SATA controller on the motherboard early in the installation. These drivers are
usually put on a floppy. You need to put the floppy in the drive when you see
this screen.

The drivers are usually available from the manufacturer's web site.

Just out of curiosity, did your Dell come with an actual XP Home installation CD
or does it have a hidden partition that restores the system to the state it was
in when it left the factory? And why are you removing XP Home to install XP Pro?

My best guess is that unless you can come up with the correct drivers from Dell,
your only option may be to reinstall XP Home and do an upgrade installation if
you want XP Pro on that computer. Hopefully, your XP Pro CD is a Retail disc and
not an OEM.

Good luck
