Clean XP Pro Install on SATA Drive

I am setting up several new PC's using SATA hard drives
without success. I am using ASUS KV8 SE Deluxe
motherboards with WD 160GB SATA drives. I have attempted
to install more than a dozen times using the downloaded
third-party drivers for VIA and Promise. I have updated
the BIOS, disabled PROMISE RAID, modified the boot
priority. Hard drive has been formatted and partitioned
using WD's Data Lifeguard software. Here is the error
sequence I get on a typical machine when installing
Windows XP Professional.

Error 1 - shows itself when install is 77% complete
"The file wininet.dll was not copied correctly.

The file setup placed on your hard drive is not a valid
windows XP system image. If you are installing from CD,
there may be a problem with the windows XP CD".

Error 2 - shows itself when install is 78% complete
"The file licdll.dll was not copied correctly . . . . "
same as above in Error 1.

Error 3 - Blue Screen

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut
down to prevent damage to your computer"

Try doing a Microsoft or Google search on the error messages and the stop
message - usually you will get a link to a fix or, at least, more info.
