XP home to pro upgrade

I recently purchased a Dell. They incorrectly shipped it with xp home instead
of xp pro.. via Dell's customer support, they issued me a re-installation CD.
However, the XP pro setup program, initializes normally, but after the
reboot, issues the following error message "setup cannot find a CD-ROM
drive....."

After reading a bit... I am wondering if this is an issue with SATA
technology (which is applicable to this dimension 9150)....

Thier is no upgrade from home to xp pro, thiers no way to just install pro
over home either. One must, install xp pro cd,boot to xp pro cd,with SATA or
RAID press F6 (have the SATA or RAID controller drivers on a MS-DOS formatted
floppy,get from the mfg,probably intel).After floppy drivers,proceed to xp
cd boot
screen,select install xp,new copy,delete the partition,create one,then xp
formats
and installs auto.Once it starts, dont press any keyboard keys unless
prompted,
even for F6.

Andrew you are totally incorrect, as usual.

Would you please stop passing out bad advice.

So any thoughts on the error I am receiving? Why would the MS XP Pro Setup
program not find my CD-Rom drive?

This is still a Dell support issue and should be resolved through Dell
support. Since the CD upgrade media was supplied by Dell, it could be
defective media.
P.S. Do not listen to Andrew E., as he is purposely and knowingly giving
wrong information for reasons known only to Andrew E. Even when his
information is correct, his inability to construct a coherent reply makes
the reply almost useless.
Always get a second opinion before following any advice from Andrew E.

Andrew,
Are you mentally challenged? This is one of your worst replies, I have
personally ever observed. You are knowingly and maliciously posting
completely wrong information.

Andrew E. please reply if you find my accusations wrong, I would love to

New Dell computer = Dell computer warranty so Dell Tech Support should
be your first choice for getting this fixed.

If they can't or won't help you then post a reply back here and we
will try to help you work through it. It may be necessary to
manually erase the hard drive before starting the Pro install.

Good luck
