upgrading to XP without using CD

Hi,
I need to upgrade win 2000 pro Laptop to Xp pro, CD rom dirve doesnt' work
on it, I can use server's shared CD rom drive, will upgrade work if I copy xp
pro CD contents to my Laptop desktop then run Setup.
Thanks for your time

p.s.Tried to run setup from Server CD but when machine reboots it loses
connection to server and set up doesn't continue

You are unable to run setup directly from the Server Shared CDROM because it
is copying just the files need to prepare the Setup and bring a Startup menu
after restart.

Copy all the contents (including Hiddens - use Select All command from Edit
menu) under a folder on your desktop and then run the Setup.

You can also try the Option "Copy all the installations files from the Setup
CD" in Advanced button while running setup directly from Shared CDROM of
server.
