Stop error

Whenever I start my computer after the system check, a blue screen appears
that says
" A problem has been detected on your computer and windows has been shut
down to prevent damage blah blah blah

Stop: 0x0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF84BA0AF, 0XF898927C, 0XF8988F7C)
atapi.sys - Address F84BA0AF base at F84B4000, datestamp 3B7D83E5"

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I cannot go past this screen. The only
way to make it get out of this screen is to restart, but it just comes up
again. I bought a new hard drive, thinking that was the problem, but it
wasn't. All I installed on the new hard drive was Windows XP, but it still
appears. I cannot get into windows at all.

Possibly any one of a number of things.. First thing I would do is try to
start it in safe mode, this would indicate whether its a driver problem or
not. If it starts in safe mode, I would then start a clean boot
troubleshooting procedure.
