Stop Error Screen

Using Win XP Sp2. Out of nowhere I had a blue screen pop up with the
following info: "STOP ERROR SCREEN...Windows shut down. If this has not
happened before restart your computer. If this has happened before check for
adequate disc space and check for Bios update." I restarted and so far so
good. My computer has been shutting down randomly with no prompt. Also I
have had to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys to shut down programs that continue to
run when prompted to close. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

The error message should have included a STOP code plus 4 parameter
values. These are the items that distinguish your particular error
from the tens of thousands of other problems that can also trigger a
STOP error. If you did not make note of these values when the screen
appeared then you can probably locate the record of the error by using
Event Viewer.

Right-click on "My Computer" and select Manage. Click on the + sign
in front of the Event Viewer header to show the various event
categories. Browse through the System and Application categories
looking for red-flagged error event records whose date and time stamps
correspond to your STOP error incident. Double click on an event
record to see the details of that event. Post the error event
details back here if you need further assistance with the details.

Good luck
