Hi,

Internet explorer, I have to click view, status bar each and every time for
each and every window.

Is there a way to save the setting?

Press CTRL while you close the window.

The status bar choice didn't stick well in XP or SP1. Apparently SP2
has fixed that.

This is driving me crazy. I use XP Home. I don't seem to have had any
problem (since I installed SP2, at any rate) with the Internet Explorer
status bar, however whenever I want to see a status bar in Windows
Explorer I have to turn it on. If I change folders the Status Bar
diasappears. I have tried following the instructions for checking the
View->Status Bar option, locking the toolbars, applying to all folders,
closing Explorer first with Ctrl-Click then with Shift-Click, all to no
avail. I've run the Folder Size tweak from Kelly's Korner.

I've just tried running the Show Status Bar (line 67) tweak and have
got the following error message:
"Cannot import .... .reg: Not all data was successfully written to the
registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes."

Looking in the Registry I see that the 2 "Show_...." and the
"NoSaveSettings" values are present and correct, but there is no
"StatusBarOther" value. If I try to add a new value I get a "Cannot
create value: Error writing to the registry" error.

Any suggestions, please, as to what may be preventing the
StatusBarOther value from being created?
