My Notepad status bar is empty, gray.
I have made entries to iDefaultEncoding and Status Bar in the registry.
Status bar should always be visible, but it isn't.
I have never enabled WordWrap, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Despite the registry entries, sometimes settings can still be tricky. Have you tried resetting Notepad preferences or checking for any recent Windows updates that might have affected it?
