Hi,
Mspaint closes each and every time I try to open a document.
Nothing on the KB about paint.

Here's a couple of things to try:
- Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are
damaged or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot
afterwards so damaged files will be replaced.
- Open Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click the Add/Remove Windows
components button in the left pane. Locate Accessories, double-click,
deselect Paint, close the applet. Go back in and add Paint.

OK, to try again, What type of document? Are they .jpg, or .bmp?

Joe,
It closes after I click File-Open. I didn't even get a chance to pick the
file.
Strange though. I don't know what I did. But it ran fine yesterday. Could
open any file, jpg, png, bmp, etc. Today, i tried again and it decides to
close again.
At the moment I have to use explorer, right click and choose, open with. It
opens fine. But I just can't open the file direct from paint.

Tried something else. I could do File-New and the 4 recent files i used in
paint. But not File-Save, File-SaveAs. Same thing happens, it just closes,
even if i tried saving a completely empty new file.

I would think you'd get similar results from other programs attempting
to access the same folder or drive then. You might right-click the
drive in My Computer and do a disk error check under the drive Properties.

Nope. No disk error. Everything can be accessed. Paint just closes when I
click file-open or even file-save, file-save as.

A Google Groups search showed that some Windows Updates caused similar
problems. Here's one, not actually Paint causing the problem though:

Things just got worst. Now IE 6.0 closes if I do "save target as". If I
"save" a downloaded picture, only that particular browser window closes.
Didn't happen before, even when paint start acting up.
