Folder Status Bar

I'm trying to set up my Windows XP Pro so that some folders display the
Status Bar and some don't.
Is this possible?
I have a lot of folders with just a couple of shortcuts and in most cases I
don't want/need a Status Bar - it just adds to the clutter, while some
folders eg. the Recycle Bin I want the Status Bar to be visible.
If I set (say) the Recycle Bin to display the Status Bar then all folders
display the Status Bar when they are re-opened.
Setting the "Remember each folders view" in Folder Options-> "View" either
way doesn't seem to make any difference.

Hi Pete,

AFAIK, that option is set system wide, it's either enabled or it isn't. The
personalized views dictate the way the folders display the data they
contain, but not the framework of Explorer itself.
