explorer status bar keeps disappearing

I can't keep the status bar displayed in my comp or win explorer or recycle
bin. I do
view/status bar to turn it on. But, when the window is closed and another
one opened, it does not save it this way. I have to turn it on again. XP
home and IE6

To make your Status Bar reappear (and stick)

Close all your applications
Open Explorer (Window Key-E)
Select View, Status Bar (you should now see the status bar)
Goto Tools, Folder Options
Goto the View tab
Hit, apply to all folders
Hit ok to accept
Close that instance of Explorer

That should fix it for you

(note this is the procedure to get the status bar back in IE as well)

Hi

After you have enabled the Status Bar, go to Tools>Folder Options>View and click on 'Apply to All Folders'.
