Starting Win 2000 Explorer, system tries to install Earthlink Popup Blocker

Hello --

The Earthlink app is on an external drive that died.

Every time I start Windows Explorer, the system tries to install it, and
cannot, of course, find it. It also starts when I click Spelling in Outlook
Express, as I did in spell-checking this message.

This confirms to me that there is a connection between Win Explorer and IE
(wasn't this the subject of the recent Microsoft trial?).

Can anyone tell me how to:

1 - configure IE not to try to run the blocker
2 - sever the connection between Win Explorer and IE?

Thanks for any help.

I presume you mean Internet Explorer?

No - it concerned the bundling of IE into the operating system.

Can you reinstall and uninstall the Earthlink software? Might be the easiest
route.

The problem occurs with Windows Explorer.

It also occurs with IE, but I simply use other browsers to avoid the
nuisance of the installer appearing every time I start an instance of IE).

It and IE are related by a file, the name of which I can't remember.

I would uninstall and reinstall the Earthlink software if it weren't on an
external drive that died.

Does anyone know how to tell WinExplorer/IE tot to try to install ELNK's
popup blocker?
