virtualize an existing win/2k system

Greetings --

Trying to virtualize an existing win/2k
system using the vmware converter
application has lead to all sorts of
problems.

First, after installing converter (v4)
and doing a hot clone, the system died
with a blue screen. I could not find a
posting in the forums of this happening,
so I then

(Second) tried to clone the system from
a ghost (v9) backup. That failed too,
converted could not figure out that the
(ghost) backup was a win/2k system. One
thought on this problem is that the
boot.ini was to complex for converter to
parse.

So, (third) I tried to "restore" the
image from the ghost backup.

I was able to restore the disk backups.
I knew there would be a "driver" issue
when the os started, so I first ran
converter to "configure" the system. I
am not sure what it did, but it ran for
about 30 seconds and was done.

When I started the system, it got to the
Win/2K splash screen and then blue
screened.

Would it be possible to boot the win/2k
install cd and fix it from there?

Where is win/98 when you need it

Thanks

Frank

Also Paragon Drive Backup uses Adaptive Restore which is supposed to
make this possible.

Greetings --

Thanks for the info on Paragon -- I did post this to vmware with no
reply -- thx
