Start / Stop Listening Voice Recognition Problem...

I just set up Voice recognition today. I am experiencing one problem... Now
when I say "Stop Listening", the Speech Recognition switches to "Off" instead
of "sleep". This is bad, because it ignores me when i say "Start Listening".
It was working properly for a while. Where did I screw up?

Set the Way back Machine for about 10 years or so and get a copy of OS/2
Warp 4. Native voice recognition was terrific.

What? You believed Bill when he said they invented Voice Recognition?

Seriously? Why did you even respond to this? You weren't helpful and, worse,
you didn't even try.

Though you don't deserve a reply, I will say this:
I am blown away by the voice recognition. The coolest part: I did not even
know the functionality existed when I woke up this morning, but within an
hour I was able to navigate my entire operating system and all of its
programs with a mic I bought for $24. Yeah... This stuff sucks! Idiot.

If I have to click the Mic Button with my mouse to "wake it up" instead of
saying "start listening"... I think I'll survive.

speech recognition in vista is great and accurate about 99%,if it dont work
for u,then u have not taught it properly.

use the training thats built in.i use it to do nearly everything from
letters, emails to web browsing its far better than any purchased speech
softwre.

I think I have figured out the issue... It is related to my power-supply.
If my laptop is plugged into the wall, it will go to sleep when I say "stop
listening". When it is not plugged in, it will turn off. I am 95% sure that
the source of the issue is power management. Now i know and "knowing is half
the battle" -G.I. Joe.

Do you know where this is set up? I actually want mine to go off when I say
stop listenning, cos it keeps coming back on again when I put on Capital
Radio and the DJ tries to get people to listen in more often... :p

I think you are kidding, but if you think your issue IS related to power
management, then you can go:
Control Panel > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings

Then select Change Advanced Power Settings... Change stuff until it works
like you want.

If you would just like to change what the command does, then you are in the
same boat I started in.

Thanks so much Mike for your info- I was having the same trouble but didn't
think about the power issue til you mentioned it. That was exactly what was
going on with my laptop and it was annoying. Other than that small issue, I
love the speech recognition program! I have tried using another program
several years ago (don't rem. which one) and it stunk. This is so easy and
gets better the more it is used.

I cannot find any settings in my "edit plan" power settings that make this
problem go away. Has anyone else?

Thanks, Mark
