Standby Mode Freezes

I have a Windows Media Center from Gateway. The 610XL. Everytime I try to put ot into standby it preepares to standby and the stops. Then I have to shut the machine off manually. But I never get an error message. I have been on the phone with Gateway and have done numerous different things and nothing corrects the problem. Does anyone know anything about this and is there a driver to download before I ship the machine back to Gateway to have it serviced.
