Standby is greyed out

On one of my XP PCs, when sutting down, the Standby option is greyed
out. I really don't use that, but I'm just wondering why it's not an
option, unlike on my other XP PCs.
Oddly enough, this is the same PC that has the problem of not shutting
down. It hangs on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen, even if left
over night, it will never turn off. Not sure if this is related or not.

Hi Alice,

Standby problems are usually device drivers related, mostly the graphics card driver (either it's not installed, or the installed driver is unsigned). These links can help you troubleshoot the problem.
